TFMS Music Booster Non-Profit Organization

Mission and Goals

The TFMS Music Booster Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of individual members that believe music is important to the development and education of our children. This organization provides enthusiastic support for the Director of Music and the music programs that allow TFMS music students to explore, develop and enhance their musical education.
You may support the TFMS Music Booster Association by:

  • Providing funding for new instruments, music, uniforms, equipment, festival fees, clinician fees, scholarships and other necessary costs of a high-performing program.

  • Volunteering your time as a chaperone or helping with logistics for the many events during the year.

  • Encouraging your student to take lessons, practice and participate in the variety of music events.

Functional Relationships

Music Program Director
Basic responsibility for the music program is in the hands of the music director.  The Director decides its content, plans curriculum and activities, selects music, and formulates policy and philosophy (following school guidelines).  And, of course, teaches, rehearses, and directs.  The director is also responsible for identifying areas for expansion and improvement.

Boosters Members
The boosters organization must identify ways it can support the music program.  This will often mean developing, managing, and implementing fundraising projects.

Boosters also typically provides assistance by chaperoning activities, sponsoring social events, helping with setup and tear down of concert events, caring for uniforms or robes, or assisting in the classroom.

Generally what the boosters purchase is largely the responsibility of the music director.  How money is raised is largely the responsibility of the boosters.

School Administration
The school administration sets general policies concerning travel, time students can spend out of school, and fundraising projects related to school programs.
