MISSION:
The Twin Falls Middle School (TFMS) Music Booster Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of parent volunteers and the school's Music Directors. We believe music is integral in the development and education of our children. The TFMS Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) and the Music Boosters Association work together to support TFMS students to provide a fun, collaborative, and welcoming community.
GOALS:
The Music Boosters organization provides financial and logistical support for the TFMS Music Program (Band & Choir) to enable music students to explore, develop and enhance their musical education.
SUPPORT OUR MUSIC PROGRAM:
Looking for ways to get involved? You can support the TFMS Music Booster Association by:
DONATING: Donations provide funding for new instruments, music, uniforms, equipment, festival fees, clinician fees, scholarships and other necessary costs to maintain an enriching program.
VOLUNTEERING: Volunteering your time as a chaperone or helping with logistics for the many events during the year.
ENCOURAGEMENT: Support your student to take lessons, practice, and participate in the variety of music events.
Membership & Meetings:
- Anyone with a student in music at TFMS or is a community member who values music education can become a member of the TFMS Music Boosters.
- There are no dues and/or fees for members of the organization.
- General membership meetings are held two times during the school year.
- Quorum: 5 members including at least 2 officers
- The Board is comprised of 5 to 6 members + Program Directors (meets monthly prior to General Meeting)
- Meetings will abide by Roberts Rules of Order
- Bylaws, Article 5, Section 7 – No member or visitor shall discuss the teaching methods of the program director during a general meeting. Nor shall they discuss their children’s or other student’s academic or behavioral performance in the music ensembles. For such discussion, the concerned party shall arrange a private meeting with the program director.
Music Program Directors:
The Director creates the music program's content, curriculum and selects activities and music, formulates policy and philosophy (following school guidelines). And, of course, teaches, rehearses, and directs. The director is also responsible for identifying areas for expansion and improvement.
Boosters Members:
The boosters organization must identify ways it can support the music programs' needs and directors' visions of the programs. This will often mean developing, managing, and implementing fundraising projects.
Boosters also typically provides assistance by chaperoning activities, sponsoring social events, helping with setup and tear down of concert events, caring for uniforms or robes, or assisting in the classroom.
Generally, what the boosters purchase is largely the responsibility of and upon the request of the music director. How money is raised is largely the responsibility of the boosters.
School Administration:
The school administration sets general policies concerning travel, time students can spend out of school, and fundraising projects related to school programs.
Methods of Communication:
Signing up for music means exciting events and performance opportunities outside of school. We use these methods to help you stay informed:
- Emails from school Music Directors
- Websites (this Booster site & school site)
- Social Media (Facebook & Instagram)
- General meetings (open to parents of music students)
